HKINPACE History:

The development of cardiac electrophysiology (EP) in Hong Kong started in late 1980s and early 1990s.  During this initial period, only a few public hospitals performed regular electrophysiology study and radiofrequency ablation procedures.  By late 1990s, most of the regional hospitals in Hong Kong provided EP service.  However, there was little collaboration and sharing among hospitals.  Anticipating the needs of promoting the development of EP service, a group of electrophysiologists in Hong Kong gathered together and established a dedicated EP society.  Hong Kong Interhospital Network of Pacing and Cardiac Electrophysiology (HK-IN-PACE) was established by Dr Chan Hon-wah (QMH, founding president), Dr Chan Wai-kwong (UCH), Dr Chan Kwok-keung (PYNEH), Dr Mok Ngai-shing (PMH) and Dr Chung Hau-kwong (PWH) from five regional hospitals in Hong Kong in 1998.
